Simon the Sorcerer is the protagonist and only playable character of the series. He wears a pointed hat and a cloak. He was originally a normal teenager, but was whisked away to a fantastical place where he has the magical powers of a sorcerer and must use them to solve the logic puzzles in the games.
Calypso appears in the first four games. In the first game, he is saved by Simon the Sorcerer. Iin the second, he runs a magic shop. In the third game he helps Simon to rejoin his body with his soul and in the forth game he wants to become the castle ghost.
Swampy is a character whose sole friend is Simon the Sorcerer. Swampy is known for making swamp stew.
Sordid is the antagonist.
Runt is Sordid's assistant. He is a youth who constantly seeks to please.
